Ethnic Tolerance in South Dakota-Have a select group of students research the German heritage (religion, traditions, beliefs) and make a presentation on what they have learned.   Do the same thing with Dutch, Norwegian, Native American, Hutterite, etc.  Interview family members or community resources (care centers/retirement homes.

• Why did they settle in the area?

• What were the challenges/obstacles and how were they overcome?

• What was the role of government and did it help with their success?

• What level of tolerance was exercised?

• How were they educated?
