Activity:

1. Students can keep a portfolio of newspaper, magazine, Internet articles involving the influence of political parties during the 2004 campaigns. On the eve of the election have students write a prediction of the results from election night and the role political parties played in their prediction. The following day have students assess the accuracy of their prediction. What did they predict correctly and/or incorrectly?

Assessment

• Completion of the portfolio

• Write a prediction paper

• Write a summary paper on the results of the election

• Map summary of the states’ results

• Design a poster that encourages people to vote.  The poster will be put in all of the businesses in the community
