  1. Students can conduct a survey noting local, state, and national priorities. See example below:

  1. Students can have a class discussion on outdated states laws. Students can brainstorm the possible reasons why such laws were at one time needed. Students can also assess why such laws are no longer needed.

  2. Develop a visual representation of the different categories of the South Dakota Codified Laws

  3. Students will research an actual or potential disaster for South Dakotans (ex: flood, blizzard, drought, tornado, terrorist attack).

Assessment

Summarize and evaluate the results of the visual representation to determine the priorities of South Dakota laws.
