DOE hosting character ed conference in July

An opportunity to develop skills to build a positive environment in schools is offered at the character education conference scheduled for July 8^-9 at the RamkotaConvention Center in Pierre. Nationally known speakers are scheduled and college credit will be offered.

According to author Eric Shaps in a recent article in Educational Leadership, “A growing body of research confirms the benefits of building a sense of community in school.  Students in schools with a strong sense of community are more likely to be academically motivated.”
