Governor’s Healthy School
Award winners to receive $5,000
Applications for the 2nd annual
Governor’s Healthy School Award will be available beginning April 8. The award
provides public schools with recognition for their leadership in the area of
school health programming, which includes health education, nutrition services,
health services and physical education.
Awards will be given to schools at four
levels: 1) elementary, 2) middle/junior high, 3) high school and 4)
district-wide. Up to three finalists will be selected at each level. The top
winner at each level will receive a banner and $5,000. The other finalists at
each level will receive plaques.
The deadline for submitting applications
is May 31. Requests for applications must be made by a public school
superintendent / CEO, assistant superintendent, principal or assistant principal.
