SoDakLIVE, at www.sodaklive.com, is the South Dakota State Library’s Web-based digital library. It provides access to South Dakota state government Web sites, state publications, and SDMemory: T he Gateway to South Dakota History and Culture Online.

The possibilities for using SoDakLIVE are endless, but here are a few suggestions to get you started:

  • Learn who your state legislators are;
  • Learn what endorsement you need to teach mathematics;
  • Find information for school reports;
  • Find current fishing and hunting reports;
  • Learn state history;
  • Discover recipes for diabetics; and,
  • Learn about genealogy resources.

SoDakLIVE’s search engine is easy to use. If you have a specific search term in mind, you simply insert that term in the search box and hit the enter key to find answers. If you are interested in “browsing the stacks” of this digital library, a subject list also is provided.

Finally, be sure to visit the historical documents section of the library at www.sodaklive.com/histdocs.htm. There you will find the following full-text publications: the Compiled Laws of the Territory of Dakota, 1887;Governor’s Messages including early inaugural addresses, biennial messages and veto messages, [1891-1906]; the Hughes County History: Compiled and Arranged in the Office of County Superintendent of Schools, Hughes County, So. Dak., 1937; and, the South Dakota Library Bulletin: 1913-1963 50th Anniversary edition.
