Locating Funding Sources

Grant Writing Terms and Acronyms

Grantee - The receiver of a grant.
Grantor - The giver of a grant.
Grantsmanship – Skill in receiving grants.
Discretionary Grants – competitive grants.
Formula Grants – grants sent directly to states to distribute according to the formula (ex. Title I). Also known as “Flow through dollars”.
Subgrants – Grants made from a larger grant
LEA – Local Education Agency
SEA – State Education Agency
RFP – Request for Proposal
RFA – Request for Application
