Non-certified Administrators (CEOs & Business Managers)

Timeline

1)     After July 1, 2004

1. No NEW non-certified administrators hired;
2. Exemption may be requested from Secretary of Education with intent to comply by dates listed below.

2)     Prior to July 1, 2005

1. Each current CEO and building manager must submit a professional development plan listing his or her:

1. Intent to complete superintendent or principal programs or endorsements, or
2. Intent to take the Praxis test - Educational Leadership: Administrations & Supervision (First test date: April 2005).

2. Each current CEO and building manager may request an exemption from the certification requirements if he or she has a pending resignation or retirement on or before June 30, 2008.

3)     By July 1, 2008

1. All new and existing administrators must be properly certified by via a traditional or an alternative route, as described above.
