Free Online Professional Development for Renewal Credit
“Teacher-to-Teacher” Online Workshops
The U.S. Department of Education brought together some of the nation's most effective teachers and education experts to share with their colleagues research-based practices and proven methods of using data to inform instruction. Teacher-to-Teacher Workshops, offered in various locations all over the United States, presented research-based practices that have been instrumental in closing the achievement gap. These workshops were taped and converted to the video-streaming format.
The South Dakota Department of Education is accepting these online Teacher-to-Teacher workshops toward credits for renewing a South Dakota certificate. These workshops are at no charge to teachers. Remember that 15 continuing education contact hours equal one credit.
Each Teacher-to-Teacher workshop is comprised of video and follow-up activities that total 10 continuing education contact hours. The video portion of each workshop is worth two continuing education contact hours. The completion of the follow-up activities is worth eight continuing education contact hours.
You can collect these workshop continuing education hours in any combination. You can watch several of the workshop videos or you can complete the video and the follow-up activities to collect the hours.
An eLearning Certificate of Completion will be received for the two-hour video completion. You will print the follow-up activities and your supervisor will need to sign off on the completion of those activities. Both documents must include date(s) and contact hours spent in the professional activity. These documents will need to be submitted at the time of your renewal as credit documentation.
