Professional Administrators Practices and
Standards Commission
Code of Ethics
The Code of
Ethics for Administrators contains 15 statements which broadly cover
decision making, conduct, and responsibilities for persons whose duties
address operation of a school district.
Commission members believe it is vitally important that all
administrators be acquainted with the Code
of Ethics for Administrators; therefore, copies of the code are sent with each
new administrator certificate and renewal.
The commission strives to build statewide awareness of itself and its
responsibilities. South Dakota post-secondary institutions (particularly those that grant
administrative degrees) are encouraged to include the code in their
curriculum, emphasizing its importance for future educators. Commission
members are willing to present information at
workshops, area meetings and school inservice programs. The Code of Ethics
is an important tool to maintain a high level of integrity for South
Dakota's administrators.
