Teaching Students Right From Wrong in the Digital Age:
A Technology Ethics Primer, 6-12
|
Overview: Studies show that misconceptions abound about
the appropriate use of technologies. This presentation examines
basic ethical issues, some ethical codes, and actual case studies
when students have had to make ethical decisions, and techniques
teachers can use to promote ethical behaviors in the classroom.
Doug Johnson, who is an author, speaker, and consultant, has been
the Director of Media and Technology for the Mankato Public Schools
since 1991 and has served as an adjunct ct faculty member of
Minnesota State University, Mankato since 1990. His teaching
experience has included work in grades K – 12 in schools both here
and in Saudi Arabia. He is the author of two books: The
Indispensable Librarian and The Indispensable Teacher’s Guide to
Computer Skills. His regular columns appear in three journals and
his articles have appeared in over twenty books and magazines. Doug
has conducted workshops and given presentations throughout the
United States as well as in Malaysia, Kenya, Thailand, and Canada.
