Animal Adaptations
The purpose of this demonstration is to introduce a simple concept in evolution and adaptations. Students learn what an adaptation is by constructing two animals from different habitats.

Animal Adaptations: Focus on Bird Beaks
This is an activity designed to provide students with a hands-on activity to help them explore animal adaptations, namely the shape of a bird's beak in relation to their food source.

Animal Adaptations WebQuest
This activity encourages students to learn about different animal adaptations and how they help an animal survive.  The final product will be the creation of a new animal.

Animal Camouflage
During this activity, students will discover that animals have adaptations that aid in their survival.

How Do Animals Protect Themselves
During this activity, students discover the connection between animals and their predators through research and observations.

Rat Island
This group activity asks students to use their imagination to design a rat which is adapted to survive on an island.

Reptile Adaptations
This lesson plan encourages students to explore why some animals have specific adaptations for their environments. Students will research an animal and create a diagram of their reptile.

Wetland Animal Adaptations
This lesson plan outlines ways for students to choose a wetland animal and research how the environment affects his adaptations and habitats.  Other curriculum ideas and extensions are provided.
