Story Land Mural The lesson on this site requires the students to
create a mural
of characters of stories that they have read and sharing this mural with
other
students.
Nightingale In this lesson, based on Hans
Christian Andersen's The Nightingale, students are prompted to
make a new necklace for the nightingale and to write a letter to the
emperor detailing the pattern in the new necklace.
Into the Woods: Part 1 This ArtsEdge lesson
is the first lesson in a two-part unit. In this lesson, students create
a mini-musical book for "The Frog Prince," by the Brothers Grimm, and
Jon Scieszka's fractured tale, "The Frog Prince Continued."
Into the Woods: Part 2 In this ArtsEdge
lesson, students will now create the music for a mini-musical of their
stories and in groups will improvise musical scenes.
Unicorns, Dragons and other Magical Creatures
This lesson will explore images of magical creatures from around the
world. After discussing the special attributes of such creatures,
students will create puppets representing magical creatures of their own
invention, or ones based on the creatures they've learned about, and put
on puppet shows, dramatizing original stories about their creatures.
Structure of a Play
Through the 10 lessons in this unit, students will increase their
understanding of the structure of a well-made play by creating a fairy
tale using the Aristotilian Structure as a guide.
