The Cell: Excellent website from Thinkquest with many lessons, photographs, online quizzes, and excellent resources. Use this to spring your students from the concept of light to the microscopic world of cells. 

Cells Alive! Great place to just look at the cell gallery or explore the microscopic world or cells. 

MicroWorlds: Excellent site for exploring various kinds of microscopes, their history, as well as sites to use to see slides from the microscopic world. 

Scanning Electronic Microscope: Excellent site to show the use of an electronic microscope. This site also includes an excellent gallery of scanned images and additional links to the web.
