Start
Something Target Stores and the Tiger Woods Foundation
have expanded the Start
Something
educational program to make it available in its entirety online. Now,
students can choose to complete the entire program online using new
tools such as an online notebook, project worksheets, a download center
for forms and project requirements, an Interest Survey, a Start Dreaming
career section and a listing of Internet resources. The program
encourages students from ages 8 to 17 to identify a specific personal
desire or goal and begin taking steps toward achieving their dreams. In
the process, students also identify personal values, interests and
talents needed to achieve their dream goal. They can also qualify for
scholarships ranging from $100 to $5,000 to
fund their special interests and enter an essay contest to meet golf
champion Tiger Woods. Teachers and youth group leaders can obtain a
complete curriculum at
http://startsomething.target.com/info/flash.htm.
Students can join the free program by registering at the site. For more
information, call (800) 316-6142.

Job
shadowing
is designed to give students an up-close look at the world of work and
to answer that question. To extend the concept, a "virtual job
shadowing." initiative allows students anywhere in the country with
access to the Internet to shadow working professionals online. Source:
