Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP)
Forms & Documents
Quick Links

USDA's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program provides elementary students with fresh fruits and vegetables throughout the school day. The number of children participating in the program varies each year. The program is geared toward elementary schools with the highest proportion of free and reduced lunch enrollment. Total enrollment of all schools selected in the state must result in a per-student allocation of $50 to $75.

Administered at the state level by Child & Adult Nutrition Services - the same agency that administers the National School Lunch Program - the FFVP began in 2004. Legislation in 2008 expanded the program to schools not previously authorized to participate in the program.

Resources

  • Banana Grams - You can add your own school or group name to them, print these out on labels, and attach it to fresh fruit skins or boxes of dried fruit to help promote healthy choices.
