TIDBITS FROM SANDRA

We're ready for a New Year after a thorough end-of-the-year office cleaning, and look forward to the new administration at the state level. Likely it will bring about some changes in the future and we will be sure to notify local agencies if any of the changes affect them. Likely it will not have major impact as our funds are federal and the vast majority of regulations and policies come from the federal level. The USDA Regional Office is undergoing some restructuring but again that will have minimal impact on the local level.

Reauthorization of the child nutrition programs will be a part of this coming year's national legislation. It should provide for interesting discussions as well as opportunities. Organizations and individuals work with their legislators for changes and improvements.

A mailing should already be at the SFAs with a variety of items in it including memos for revised production records for schools and dealing with documentation of homeless children for participation in the school nutrition programs, and Best Practices nominations.

Happy New Year - Hope it is a happy, safe, and healthy one for you and yours.

Icebergs

An iceberg is a good analogy of our character and personality. The tip of the iceberg is what is seen first by other people; our personality. The part that lies underneath the water is our character, which lays unseen and hidden. Our personality is our image, techniques and skills that influence our outward success, but our true success will come from the goodness of our character that lies beneath the surface.

Peace in the World

"If there is light in the soul,
There will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person,
There will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house,
There will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
There will be peace in the world."
~Chinese Proverb
