Reauthorization

Reauthorization of child nutrition programs is moving along at the federal level.  Reauthorization is the process through which Congress decides whether or not to fund programs that have operated in the past and have the authority to operate.  Oftentimes there are changes in the programs at the time of reauthorization.  Other programs included in the reauthorization are WIC, Commodity Distribution, State Administrative Expense, the National Food Service Management Institute, and Summer Food Service Program.  Expect to hear more along those lines through the fall months.  There are a number of proposals and it is always interesting.  The American School Food Service Association provides information on the website (www.asfsa.org).
