• Getting ready for changes in meal patterns

  • Description: This session will cover what we know about upcoming changes to the menu patterns from USDA as well as steps to get ready for the expected changes. The HealthierUS School Challenge, prior Institute of Medicine recommendations, and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans will be covered as they all give clues to where we may be headed. Also, there will be time to talk about strategies that various agencies are using to get students to eat legumes (dried beans).

    Social marketing seeks to influence social behaviors to benefit the target audience and the general society. It uses many of the same strategies as marketers use to promote their products. The Power Panther Campaign is an example of social marketing.
