Wellness Policy
Wellness Policies –
Progress after 6 months
The State Board of Education adopted a Model Wellness Policy in
September 2005. The policy was provided in writing and via email to
all agencies along with a description of the requirements.
Since that time many training events have occurred. Education
sessions have included resources, requirements, processes,
implementation, measurement, and evaluation.
A copy of each local agency’s policy is gathered at time of their
Program Review. We hope to have our summer intern to review policies
on hand so far this summer.
Survey
An electronic survey was sent to all agencies that participate in
the National School Lunch (237) or Special Milk Program (5).
Response has been good with just over 50% (129) responses. Most gave
good comments in the success stories and barriers.
The survey results are available here along with the success stories
and barriers.
Future Use
The information will be used to determine steps we take and will
serve as sources when applying for grants. It will also be shared
with other programs within the state that work with children’s
health so we can all move in the same direction.

arise on this issue.
