Health Education
Comprehensive School Health Education (CSHE) is an organized, scientifically based, sequential (K-12) strategy for teaching students general health education information. This process develops and enhances life skills for maintaining and improving personal health.
The intent of comprehensive school health education is to motivate students to maintain and improve their health, prevent disease, and avoid or reduce health-related risk behaviors. It also provides students with the knowledge and skills they need to be healthy for a lifetime.
Schools have an enormous potential for helping students develop the knowledge and skills they need to be healthy and achieve academically. To help schools meet these goals, Comprehensive School Health Education in the Department of Education provides the following:
