HIV/AIDS Prevention Education provides leadership and technical assistance to local school districts in the areas of data collection, policy development, curriculum selection, and teacher training. The purpose of this program is to provide K-12 students with the knowledge and skills to promote the adoption of health enhancing behaviors that will keep them free of HIV infection.
This office coordinates HIV/AIDS Prevention Education efforts at the national, state and local levels. Specific school assistance is available through this program. HIV/AIDS Prevention Education needs to occur within the context of comprehensive school health education and be the shared responsibility of families, schools and communities.
