Coordinated School Health
Council Development
The first step toward a healthier and safer school is to identify a
team of people who will comprise your school’s council. A Coordinated
School Health Council should ideally have members that represent the eight
components of the
CSHP model. Be sure to choose
members that you think are appropriate to represent your school and
community.
Goals and Objectives of CSH Councils
- Develop a realistic school/community action plan to address
adolescent risk behavior
- Develop coordinated health communication network within each
school/community team
- Empower schools and communities to actively address health issues
and support prevention efforts
- Develop and pass policies in the area of physical activity,
nutrition, tobacco, bullying, and indoor air quality – based on the
needs of the school and community.
