Title I Part D: Materials Available

Neglected and Delinquent materials can be requested by writing the Office of
Educational Support and Services, 700 Governors Drive, Pierre, SD 57501, calling (605)
773-2491.
The following videos/audiocassettes are available for a two-week rental period
at no cost to the renter except return postage charges.
- "Boosting Student Motivation" (25 minutes). Video for teachers,
administrators, parents, and students.
- "At-Risk Students: Changing the school, not the Student." (33
minutes). Dr. Hank Levin shows educators how to improve learning by establishing
a school-wide blend of theory and practice.
- "Gangs: Signs and Symptoms" (16 minutes). Awareness of the signs
and symptoms of gang activity.
- "Working with Resistant Teens" (45 minutes). Invaluable, hands-on
survival skills for those dealing with resistant teens in any setting.
- "Success with At-Risk Students" (75 minutes). Audiocassette
produced by Jim Fay and Betsy Geddes, Ed.D.
- "Class Act" (25 minutes). Video from the Madison High Video Series.
Drop Out Prevention. This video will help at-risk students with low self-esteem
and the problems associated with dropping out of school.
- "On the Curb" (25 minutes). Video from the Madison High Video
Series. Looks at the lives of school dropouts and young people who live "on
the curb".
- "Working It Out" (23 minutes). Video from the Madison High Video
Series. Conflict resolution through teen mediation.
- "Meeting of Minds" (25 minutes). Video from the Madison High Video
Series. Discusses teacher/student relations.
- "Problem Solving Skills and Anger Management" (21 minutes). Video
from the Kelly Bear Series. Learn the steps to solving problems and positive
ways to deal with angry emotions.
- "Social Competence" (20 minutes). Video from the Kelly Bear Series.
Children learn that everyone makes mistakes, to engage in acceptable behaviors,
and to accept responsibility for their actions.
