State to celebrate National Library Week

Libraries across South Dakota will celebrate National Library Week from April 11-17.

South Dakota State Librarian Dan Siebersma says many libraries will offer special programming as part of National Library Week.

“There’s no better time to celebrate the benefits of libraries,” Siebersma says. “Libraries provide everyone – regardless of economic status or educational backgrounds – with access to a wealth of information.”

Patrons of public and school libraries across the state can access a wealth of information through their local collections, online databases and the Interlibrary Loan program.

From local and school libraries, patrons can access more than 50 research databases. Last year, more than 69,000 Interlibrary Loan requests were fulfilled in South Dakota.
