Gov. Mike Rounds announced today that the Department of Education will host 500 South Dakota teachers at the 3rd annual Governor Rounds’ Teacher Leadership Conference, Oct. 24-26, in Pierre. The governor is scheduled to address the group on Monday evening.
“This event was started three years ago as a way to recognize South Dakota’s teacher-leaders for their hard work and to provide them with relevant and meaningful training,” said Gov. Rounds. “This conference is all about supporting teachers by offering a forum to network, share ideas and learn about the latest developments in their field.”
Teams of two or more teachers from each district in South Dakota are invited to attend the event.
This year’s conference will include sessions that address assessment, future trends in education, shared leadership, and working with special student populations. In addition, participants will choose from among 30 breakout sessions that provide targeted, timely information on current topics in education.
