ONLINE EL Program Boot Camp
Oct. 20, 2016 - Jan. 26, 2017, online

School districts within the state of South Dakota are experiencing an increase in the number of linguistically diverse students. This change in demographics has created a need for additional support for English Learners (ELs) in schools. In South Dakota, EL teachers are frequently responsible for developing the EL program in their schools, often with very little training. There is also a need for mainstream teachers and administrators to increase their expertise in developing instruction and programming for ELs.

This webinar workshop will cover 15 topics related to the education of ELs in the state. Educators (teachers, administrators and other school personnel) will learn about the EL program and have opportunities to ask questions each session to develop their local EL programs and knowledge base. Sample documents will be presented and participants will be encouraged to update their local documents and paperwork related to the EL program.

Each session will be about one hour long and will be held online. Participants who cannot attend the live session will have an opportunity to view the recorded webinar online and will take a quiz regarding the topics covered in the webinar. Instructors will stay online for 15 minutes to answer questions after each session.
