Student Achievement and College Readiness
ACT Assessment
A curriculum-based achievement test, the ACT is made up
of four separate exams in English, reading, mathematics
and science. Seventy-five percent of the state’s
graduating seniors took the assessment in 2004, earning
an average composite score of 21.5. The ACT is scored on
a scale of 1 to 36, with 36 being the highest possible
score. The ACT is one of two widely accepted college
admission exams.
