It is a proven, highly effective, substance abuse prevention program designed to: provide students with the necessary skills to resist social pressures to smoke drink and use drugs; to help them develop greater self-esteem, self-mastery, and self-confidence; to enable children to effectively cope with social anxiety; to increase their knowledge of the immediate consequences of substance use.
National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – March 8, 2012

Raising the Standards - March 12 - 13, 2012
Coordinated School Health will be hosting training from 8:00am-4:30pm, March 12 - 13, 2012 in Rapid City, SD titled: Raising the Standards: A Skills-Based Approach to Health Education. The training is designed to provide teachers specific competencies and skills to transform traditional Health Education lessons into engaging 21st Century Skills-Based lessons and to use assessment as motivation for learning as well as assessment of learning. Spring 2012 Tobacco Prevention Institute - March 28-29, 2012
The South Dakota Tobacco Control Program will be hosting the Spring 2012 Tobacco Prevention Institute on March 28-29, 2012 at the Ramkota in Pierre, SD. Scholarship assistance will be available on a first come, first serve basis to cover the cost of attending this training, including reimbursement for substitute teachers. Key topics include "Best Practices" in Tobacco Control Coalition Building, Community and Youth Engagement, and Advocacy for Tobacco Free Schools. For more information click here
SPARKS Physical Education Training - May 29-30, 2012
South Dakota physical education teachers are invited to SPARK Workshops being sponsored by SD Coordinated School Health and Region 3 ESA in Mitchell.
Each one day workshop is designed to provide attendees with a working knowledge of SPARK’s unique content and instructional strategies for grades K-2 and/or 3-6. Teachers will leave ready to “SPARK-up” their students for a lifetime of good health!
Participants may attend one day or both days and SPARK $300 worth of materials will be purchased for participants attending the training. Click here
