Delta Dental of South Dakota Offers Free Curriculum
Whole mouth health is closely linked to whole body health. An estimated 51 million school hours per year are lost because of dental-related illnesses. Students with untreated dental decay may have trouble concentrating, learning, have frequent absences from school and can develop permanent disabilities that affect their ability to learn and grow.
Fortunately, opportunities exist in our school systems to educate children on the importance of good oral health. Delta Dental of South Dakota is pleased to provide schools with a free educational flash drive with a full curriculum related to dental health issues. Health education content areas covered in the curriculum include Alcohol and Other Drugs, Tobacco, Nutrition and Injury Prevention.
The educational flash drive will be mailed to all public school Nurses/Health Educators by November 1, 2012. All those who are responsible for teaching health would benefit from having this curriculum.
Please contact Jean Gross, Regional Educator with Delta Dental of South Dakota at firstname.lastname@example.org
