State Aid |
The State of South Dakota uses a formula to calculate the amount of
funding distributed to a school district each year. Funding is
calculated on a per-student basis. A portion of the money going into
the formula is funded by taxes collected by the state, and a portion
is funded by local property taxes. Current Law mandates that the
state increase the allocation per student every fiscal year
according to the rate of inflation or a maximum of 3 percent.
