Program funds Safe Routes to Schools
More children may soon walk or bike to school, thanks to a program now available in South Dakota. The Safe Routes to Schools Program seeks to make bicycling and walking to school a safer and more appealing transportation alternative for young students -- encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle. Applications are due June 6. The Safe Routes to Schools Program is funded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration and administered by the South Dakota Department of Transportation.
