The South Dakota Career & Technical Education (CTE) Summer Conference is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Education and in cooperation with the South Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education. Each year, this conference provides over 300 teachers, administrators, and school counselors with opportunities to connect with other educators and to explore best practices that will help them prepare students to be college, career, and life ready.

This year’s conference is scheduled for July 31-August 1, in Brookings, SD. Monday is full of interesting hands-on sessions that will provide more information on a variety of postsecondary programs and Tuesday is dedicated to content-specific time for each division. Tours and breakout sessions running in tracks related to specific career clusters will also be offered.

Registration

To register for the 2017 CTE Conference, click HERE.

Registering with Perkins Funds
Local Perkins funds can be used for professional development related to CTE Programs of Study, including CTE conference registration fees.

Membership dues for professional organizations such as CANNOT be paid for with local Perkins funds.

Perkins funds are not released to school districts until July 1, 2017.

You may register before July 1, if you are using Perkins funds depending on your date of payment. If payment is made before June 30, 2017, then the cost must be on the FY17 grant (Period of July1, 2016 – June 30, 2017). If payment is made after July 1, 2017, then the cost must be budgeted in FY18 grant (Period of July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018)

If you need to use FY18 funds, please select one of the following options when completing checkout during registration: check, purchase order, or will call (at the event). Make sure that payment is not made before July 1, 2017.

Travel mileage and lodging costs are dependent on the date of travel so they must be budgeted under the FY18 grant (July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018).

Lodging

A block of rooms is reserved at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, the Hampton Inn, and the Holiday Inn Express in Brookings. Each hotel has guaranteed a special rate for a standard double or single room. Rates are listed below. When making a reservation, please ask for the SDACTE room block to receive the special group rate. All reservations must be received by June 30, 2017. At that time, the remaining blocked rooms will be released. Contact information for each hotel is included below:

Undergraduate/Graduate Credit


Undergraduate and graduate level credit is available for CTE Conference participants.

Interested participants should register online before the conference at http://reach.usiouxfalls.edu. Search for “SDACTE” and the approved course will be displayed. Payment must be made by e-check, credit or debit card. Final enrollment date for registration is Monday, July 31. ALL assignments are due NO LATER than Friday, August 4.

The cost per credit hour is $45.
