Check out variety of instructional resources available

A variety of instructional resources to assist educators in navigating flex learning is available from the Department of Education and Northern State University’s E-learning Center. Additionally, South Dakota Public Broadcasting is offering special programming on its TV channels.

DOE shares K-12 instructional resources to support flex learning
The South Dakota Department of Education has gathered a list of resources, sorted by content area, to support educators who may need to access additional resources to support flex learning while schools are closed due to COVID-19. Resources for school counselors are also included.

The department is not endorsing any of the listed resources nor has the department thoroughly vetted them for alignment to content standards. Schools and teachers should review the resources carefully to determine if they are appropriate. Educators can access the resources via this Google doc.

Resources are added to the Google doc on an ongoing basis.

NSU E-learning Center offers resources
Northern State University’s E-learning Center has made available lessons for high school math, English language arts, science, and social studies. For each lesson, there is a viewable video, a downloadable video, and a link to resources to support the lesson. It is not recommended to share the webpage link with students as answer keys are included on the webpage.

SDPB broadcasting special programming
Responding to the need for educational resources, South Dakota Public Broadcasting’s WORLD Channel is broadcasting At Home Learning programs for grades 6-12 on SDPB2-TV. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. CT / 10 a.m.-3 p.m. MT.

These are daily, free over-the-air broadcasts featuring science, history, and other educational programming. This At Home Learning block has been curated and supplemented to include related assets from the PBS LearningMedia website, a free online service of thousands of educational resources.

In addition, SDPB is broadcasting its series “Dakota Pathways” weekdays at 2 p.m. CT / 1 p.m. MT on the main SDPB1 channel. Also see www.dakotapathways.org.

Finally, SDPB Learners Connection provides free resources for at-home learning for families with children from pre-K through high school.
