  Fuccello named 2020 SD Outstanding Biology Teacher

Congratulations to Brandon Valley High School teacher Lisa Fuccello on being named South Dakota’s 2020 Outstanding Biology Teacher! Fuccello currently teaches human anatomy and biology. She has taught for 12 years in the Brandon Valley School District. One of her latest pursuits is training to become a Project Lead the Way – Anatomy teacher.

Fuccello coordinates blood drives at her school three times a year, regularly participates in and has presented at professional development opportunities, and volunteers at her church.

She was one of the founders of the Brandon Valley HOSA – Future Health Professionals and was awarded the 2018 Outstanding HOSA Advisor. Colleagues and students describe Fuccello as being positive, always smiling, genuine, dedicated, caring, and committed.

She will receive a travel grant provided by Sanford Health to help with expenses to attend the National Association of Biology Teachers Convention in Baltimore, Md., in the fall. She will be recognized at a formal luncheon there and receive gifts from national sponsors. Fuccello will also be recognized formally at the 2021 South Dakota STEM Ed Conference.
