  Apply by May 1 for fine arts content standards revision workgroup

The South Dakota Department of Education seeks K-12 educators, administrators, postsecondary educators, informal educators, and community members to serve on a standards revision workgroup this summer in the content area of fine arts. All work will be virtual.

Applications are due May 1. The department is seeking approximately 30 members for this workgroup. Workgroup members will be identified and notified by May 14.

Workgroup members will be paid a stipend for work completed. Workgroup meetings will be held on the following dates:

  • June 21 (for table leads only)
  • July 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 19 (all workgroup members)
South Dakota state content standards are reviewed on a cyclical basis. The review process allows educators to analyze what is working or identify challenges and propose revisions. The current SD Standards for Fine Arts were adopted in 2015. The South Dakota Board of Education Standards will hold public hearings on the revised standards beginning in fall 2021.
