Per HB 1082, as of July 1 public school districts are no longer allowed to charge families that qualify for reduced price breakfasts and lunches for those meals. The Child and Adult Nutrition Services team has provided detailed guidance to Food Service Directors and Business Managers on what steps to take to implement this change.

South Dakota's Ed-Flex Waiver Approved
The U.S. Department of Education approved South Dakota's Ed-Flex waiver application. Information was sent to public school district superintendents on how to start planning to use these new tools.

The SD Department of Education and SD Department of Labor and Regulation welcomed 71 paraprofessionals to the 4th Cohort of the South Dakota Teacher Apprenticeship Pathway program.

JAG-SD outperformed national benchmarks, announced three new programs, and four South Dakota educators received recognition at the National JAG First Awards to conclude the 2025-26 school year.
