Career and Technical Education Conference

The South Dakota Career & Technical Education (CTE) Summer is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Education and in cooperation with the South Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education. Each year, this conference provides over 300 teachers, administrators, and school counselors to connect with other educators and explore best practices that will help them prepare students to be college, career, and life ready.

This year’s conference is scheduled for July 31-August 2, in Sioux Falls, SD. Sunday includes numerous hands-on, in-depth sessions. Monday is full of interesting industry tours from all career areas and Tuesday is dedicated to content-specific time for each division and breakout sessions running in tracks related to specific career clusters.

Registering with Perkins Funds
Local Perkins funds can be used for professional development related to CTE Programs of Study, including CTE conference registration fees.

Membership dues for professional organizations such as CANNOT be paid for with local Perkins funds.

Perkins funds are not released to school districts until July 1, 2016.

A block of rooms is reserved at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Sioux Falls. The Ramkota has guaranteed the special rate of $99 for a standard double or single room. When making a reservation, please ask for the Career and Technical Education Academy room block to receive this special group rate. Call 605-336-0650 directly. The special group rate WILL NOT be available through the Best Western Reservation System. All reservations must be received by 6-30-2016. At that time the remaining blocked rooms will be released and sold on a first come first serve basis.

Undergraduate/Graduate Credit

Conference participants can earn one undergraduate/graduate credit for their participation in event. More details about registration and assignments will be published in late May.
