The South Dakota Career & Technical Education (CTE) Summer Conference is sponsored by the South Dakota Department of Education and in cooperation with the South Dakota Association for Career and Technical Education. Each year, this conference provides over 300 teachers, administrators, and school counselors with opportunities to connect with other educators and to explore best practices that will help them prepare students to be college, career, and life ready.

This year’s conference is scheduled for July 29-31, in Rapid City, SD. The conference is full of interesting breakout sessions, industry tours, and networking events.

Registering with Perkins Funds
Local Perkins funds can be used for professional development related to CTE Programs of Study, including CTE conference registration fees.

Membership dues for professional organizations such as SDACTE CANNOT be paid for with local Perkins funds.

A block of rooms is reserved for the CTE Conference at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Rapid City. The Ramkota has guaranteed the special rate of $139.99 for a standard double or single room.

Please call the hotel directly at 605-343-8550 and ask for Summer Conference and Institute to obtain the group rate. The special group rate is NOT available through the Best Western Reservation System. All reservations must be received by 6-30-2018. At that time the remaining blocked rooms will be released and sold on a first come first serve basis.

Undergraduate/Graduate Credit

CTE Conference participants are able to register for one credit, offered at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The cost of the credit is $45 for those who wish to participate. Individuals wanting to earn credit will need to attend the entire conference and complete an assignment following the conclusion of the conference. Additional information related to course registration, payment, and requirements is included below. Registration must be completed by July 30, 2018 in order to participate. Continuing education hour certificates will also be available for those who not wish to earn undergraduate or graduate level credit. There is no registration or cost associated with the continuing education hours. Certificates will be available to be picked up at the end of the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
