WHAT ARE WE DOING?
The Department of Education works with schools to implement Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, or PBIS. PBIS is comprised of a broad range of system, school-wide, group and individualized strategies for achieving important social and learning outcomes while preventing problem behavior with all students.
The department provides regular training to schools around civil rights issues, including bullying and harassment, and has also compiled resources and developed a process for educators to obtain suicide awareness training.
