Fourth Annual Parent Conference coming to Sioux Falls
The 4th Annual Parent Involvement Conference will be held Sept. 30 – Oct. 1 at the Ramkota Inn in Sioux Falls.
The event is quickly becoming a popular staple for connecting South Dakota parents with key resources related to their children’s education.
There is no fee to attend the conference, but pre-registration is required because meals are provided for free to attendees. Attendees also will receive free resources, such as books and educational games, to take home and try with their children.
This year’s conference, centered around the theme Learning Starts at Home, will include sessions on:
• Technology and customized learning
• Youth risk behaviors and behavior supports
• Creating a home environment that encourages learning
• Common mental health concerns impacting children.
“Parents and families play a pivotal role in their children’s academic success,” said South Dakota Secretary of Education Melody Schopp. “This conference provides parents with a wealth of information on how they can help their children thrive.”
The conference is cosponsored by the South Dakota Parent Information and Resource Network and the South Dakota Department of Education. For more information, including a detailed agenda and online registration, visit http://www.sdpirc.org/content/parents/conference.htm.
