National Threat Assessment Training
Oct. 24, 10 a.m. CT, live online
The South Dakota School Safety Center is thrilled to announce that the United States Secret Service National Threat Assessment Center will provide another free training opportunity to all those who work to keep South Dakota schools safe. Specific to South Dakota, this training will focus on how schools and communities can use a multi-disciplinary approach to identify and evaluate individuals who may pose a threat, and help those teams manage the risk with the proper intervention. It will also discuss encouraging bystanders to report threatening or concerning behaviors as a critical prevention tool. Sign up by Oct. 20 by emailing South Dakota School Safety Program Director Brett Garland with your name, email address, and job titile/occupation.

Office of Title Programs Plans to Practice

This two-day workshop is designed to equip educators, support staff, and administrators with fresh strategies to engage families, embrace innovation, and strengthen school communities. Through a blend of learning, collaboration, and real-world examples, participants will explore how to create more inclusive and effective family partnerships while leveraging modern tools and foundational program knowledge.

South Dakota Indian Education Summit
Nov. 14, Aberdeen
Register now for the 2025 Indian Education Summit! Julie Garreau, an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and CEO of the nonprofit Cheyenne River Youth Project will keynote the conference. The annual summit is a great opportunity for educators to learn about initiatives, strategies, and networks available to assist them in incorporating South Dakota history within their classrooms, schools, and communities.

Our Dakota Dreams Educator Webinar Series
Throughout the 2025-26 school year
Our Dakota Dreams Educator Webinars are intended for any educators who support students in their college readiness, including school counselors. Continuing education contact hours are offered for participation in live or recorded webinars by completing a short quiz within a limited timeframe. Webinars will be recorded and provided to registered participants.
