Literacy conference to be held June 2-3
Educators of all levels will find value in this professional development opportunity focused on literacy and the Science of Reading.
Join the Department of Education (DOE) for the Elevate. Educate. Empower. Moving Literacy Forward Across South Dakota literacy conference! This professional development event, to be held June 2-3 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, is designed to equip educators with the latest research, tools, and best practices to support literacy development in students of all ages.
Keynote speeches and breakout sessions will focus on the Science of Reading research and strategies to help participants gain new insights and understandings into how students learn to read and write.
"This conference is designed for all educators in South Dakota for whom literacy is instrumental to the success of their students," said Patti Lager, an English language arts specialist with the DOE. "We hope to see teachers, librarians, paraprofessionals, reading coaches, and administrators come together to discuss and share the best practices grounded in the Science of Reading, which will help to move literacy forward. The conference will be a great way for educators to connect with each other and learn new strategies designed for student success in reading and writing."
Attendees will have the opportunity to register for graduate credit or continuing education contact hours. Register online.
