South Dakota’s Regional Teachers of the Year, the South Dakota Teacher of the Year George Hawkins, and the most recent Milken Award winner, Albert Her Many Horses, visited the Capitol City today. The group started with a stop in the House Education Committee where they were recognized by the committee and listened to a bill hearing. They attended the state Board of Education Standards meeting, where they were recognized for their hard work and commitment to students by board members. Finally, the group was recognized by the full House and Senate in the afternoon. The visit is an opportunity for these teachers to speak with state-level leaders and share stories from the classroom.
