• Progress Reporting
  March 24, 2-4 p.m. (CT), online
  Under the IDEA, the IEP is the roadmap. Drafting a legally sound IEP is step one in the process of ensuring a FAPE. Implementing the IEP with fidelity is step two. Timely and meaningful progress reporting is step three. Experienced school attorney Elena M. Gallegos will discuss the importance of IEP implementation and progress reporting. Ms. Gallegos will provide practical tips for when a student is not making progress.



• Meaningful Parent Participation and Prior Written Notice

  As the U.S. Supreme Court has acknowledged, under the IDEA, parents and guardians are given a large measure of participation at every stage of the process (identification, evaluation, placement, and provision of FAPE). Experienced school attorney Elena M. Gallegos will discuss the duty of the district to ensure parents are afforded their rights and that they fully and meaningfully participate throughout the process. Ms. Gallegos will discuss the importance of prior written notice as a tool and provide practical strategies for dealing with breakdowns in the parent-school relationship.
