South Dakota Historical Society 2024 History Conference
The South Dakota Historical Society 2024 History Conference will be held April 5-6 in Pierre. The conference, titled, “Embracing the New Millenium: 25 Years since Y2K,” will tell the story of how technology has shaped the way we tell the story of South Dakota’s history.
The conference includes a keynote address by Jason Steinhauer, author of History, Disrupted: How Social Media & the World Wide Web Have Changed the Past. Attendees will attend sessions that address topics such as exploring history though photography and Minutemen Missiles in South Dakota.
Teachers who attend the conference can obtain up to one renewal credit or 15 CECHs. Contact the Historical Society at (605)773-3458 for more information.

MTSS conference
Registration for the 2024 Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Conference is open. This two-day conference in Oacoma, SD, will provide educators tools to ensure positive learning outcomes for all students in the classroom.
Keynote topics this year include Adolescent Literacy Instruction and Intervention and Classroom Management: Addressing Escalating Behavior.

Electronic Resources for Teachers Course
Designed for K-12 teachers as an introduction to the electronic resources provided by the South Dakota State Library, this course is offered online via Canvas for eight continuing education contact hours. Participants will discover the benefits of the SDSL electronic resources and how to incorporate them into their lessons. Registration opens April 10.

JoAnne Bohl 2024 South Dakota History Teacher of the Year West Central High School
JoAnne Bohl is the 2024 South Dakota History Teacher of the Year. Bohl, who has taught for a total of 35 years, has been teaching at West Central High School for 25 years.
