Speakers available to discuss U.S. legal system and profession
May 1, 2024, is Law Day, a day set aside to celebrate the U.S. legal system and the legal profession in general. In South Dakota, Law Day is organized by Public Sector Section of the State Bar of South Dakota; the day is designed to excite the next generation about our system and to provide information to students about possible career paths. This year’s theme is “Voices of Democracy.”
Each year, thousands of programs are conducted for youth and adults across the country for Law Day. The Public Sector Section is taking the opportunity to provide a speaker to visit classrooms throughout the state.
Although Law Day is celebrated on May 1, schools interested in participating can arrange to have a speaker on a day convenient to teaching schedules this spring. Speakers can discuss the role of law in our society, the annual theme of Law Day, or another topic at your request.
This is an excellent opportunity for students in K-12 classrooms to gain insight into the U.S. legal system, and to provide information to students interested in a legal career.
Register if you are interested in an attorney, judge, law student, or other legal professional visiting your class. The Public Sector Section of the State Bar of South Dakota will match you with legal professionals in your area.
