GO FOURTH – Free state park day pass and equipment rental for 4th graders

For the 11th consecutive year, the South Dakota Departments of Game, Fish, and Parks (GF&P) and Health (DOH) want all South Dakota fourth graders to take advantage of the “Go Fourth” program, which encourages kids and their families to get active, get outdoors, and get healthy!
The program seeks to give students exposure to local natural resources and a chance to start a lifetime of healthy habits by providing them with their choice of three state park discounts:
1.) A free family day pass;
2.) Half off an annual park license; or
3.) A free, three-year subscription to the Conservation Digest.
The program also aims to educate students about the outdoors and encourage a life-long love of nature.
Passes were mailed out to schools in early March, and GF&P and DOH are asking for teachers’ assistance in distributing them to all fourth-grade students before May 1.
