May 3 is School Lunch Hero Day

Nutrition is an important part of the education process – the people who serve breakfast and lunch at schools in South Dakota provide the fuel necessary to ensure that your students have the energy to do the work of learning. School Lunch Hero Day was established to celebrate the contributions of those who provide food for students. This year, the day falls on May 3, 2024.

With that in mind, please talk with your students about how valuable the nutrition staff at your school is. Encourage them to thank them for their work, whether it be through drawings, notes, or simply saying, “thank you,” as they move through the lunch line.
