Strengthening Family Engagement Strategies with the Support of the Title Programs Office
South Dakota schools supported under Title I work hard to build meaningful partnerships with families. Family engagement plays a vital role in student success. Planning fun events and activities that meet the diverse needs of students, families, and communities promotes strong family engagement. The Office of Title Programs offers clear guidance, practical tools, and ongoing collaboration to support effective family engagement throughout the year.
Through open communication with schools and educators, the Title Programs Team helps districts design and implement family engagement opportunities that align with Title I requirements. The Office of Title Programs is dedicated to empowering schools with resources that make family involvement accessible, purposeful, and impactful.
Family Engagement Webinars and Workshops
Each school year, the Office of Title Programs provides workshops and webinars to support school districts in meeting their Title I Family Engagement requirements.
Under Title I of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), districts and schools are required to meaningfully engage families as partners in supporting student success. Title I programming – whether operated as a Schoolwide program or a Targeted Assistance program - must include clear, intentional opportunities for parents and families to participate in the design, implementation, and review of Title I-supported activities and services. This includes providing families with accessible information, opportunities for input, and regular communication about student progress and school improvement efforts.
School leaders can register for free professional development courses and webinars provided by the Office of Title Programs on the Canvas Professional Development platform.
