Call for proposals: Literacy, Mentoring, Social Studies
The Department of Education (DOE) is looking for proposals for presentations to be featured at the DOE’s Literacy Summit, the Mentoring Academy, and the Civics and History Summit.

Showcase your expertise in the Science of Reading! The Department of Education is excited to announce the call for proposals for the upcoming South Dakota Literacy Conference 2025 to be held June 2-3, 2025, in Sioux Falls. This conference aims to bring together educators, literacy coaches, administrators, and other stakeholders to share knowledge, strategies, and best practices in the Science of Reading and literacy instruction.
A list of topics and registration form is now available. The deadline for proposals is Nov. 25.
South Dakota Statewide Mentoring Program Academies
Join the excitement this summer as new teachers and their mentors come together for a time of reflection, professional development, and celebration during the South Dakota Statewide Mentoring Program Summer Academies!
The DOE is calling on passionate individuals to share their expertise during breakout sessions. If you are skilled in topics such as student engagement, classroom management, effective assessment strategies, or other topics of value to new teachers, we want to hear from you. Please consider submitting a presentation proposal. Your knowledge can impact the next generation of teachers!
Summer academies are on each side of the state; on June 4-5, 2025, in Sioux Falls, and on June 11-12, 2025, in Rapid City. Presenters will receive $150 per session and will be reimbursed for travel expenses.

Civics & History Summit
Attention, South Dakota educators! Don’t miss this opportunity to impact the future of education in South Dakota. The DOE invites you to showcase your knowledge, experience, and expertise at the Civics & History Summit, taking place June 24-25, 2025, at the Sioux Falls Convention Center.
Submit your proposal by Nov. 25 and be a part of an event that will inspire, connect, and elevate our commitment to civic engagement and historical understanding. Presenters will receive $150 per session and be reimbursed for travel expenses.
